Exploring Namibia

Legends of giant steenbras stripping line off your reel, huge shoals of kob in a feeding frenzy, big bronzies enough to be a formidable adversary to any seasoned angler and in between all the action a feeling of solitude, peace, freedom.

I love Namibia and its people. I have been fortunate enough to have visited the country on two occasions. Both times had been to the area of Henties Bay and the coastline northwards. The wide open spaces and sheer nothingness cannot be shown on a photograph or explained to someone, ideally it needs to be experienced in person.

Please follow the links below for the reports on our Henties Bay trips.

Namibia Calling

We only scratched the surface of what is on offer. We fished exclusively rock and surf, mostly using bait. On my next visit I am very tempted to leave the big sticks at home and only pack my artificial lures and light tackle. Kob is a predatory fish yet they tend to be hard to target using artificial lures up there, but I think it might just be time to tackle the Namibian kob, Rush of Blue style.

Stay tuned for our next adventure, coming soon!
