About

Rush of Blue is a vision inspired by the love of angling, sharing thoughts and experiences through the lens of an angler.

Some would say the love for fishing is in your blood, others would believe that it is birthed from an unforgettable experience landing that first catch. Most people just do not get what the fuss is about. For us it is so much more than that, it is the love of the outdoors, to be close to nature. The thrill of the hunt, the sense accomplishment of the successful catch and the pure joy of watching your prize swim away with its freedom.

Our vision is to share some of our amazing experiences with the world. We aim to educate and instill a mindset of sustainable catch and release. Nothing would bring us greater pleasure than to be able to have experiences like these with our kids one day.

Join our adventures, experience the Rush of Blue effect. Blue is the adrenaline pulsating through our veins in the thrill of the hunt, the anticipation of the bite… feel the rush

I have been fond of angling from an early age. I spent my summer holidays visiting my grandparents in the small coastal town of Reebok. My grandparents offered hours upon hours of their time to take me “hunting” in the rock pools, for this I will be eternally grateful. My love for the ocean and all that abides in it developed through the years, it is as if I was born from it, I feel a certain longing when I am away and a sense of belonging when I am near. When trials and tribulations of everyday life get a bit much, a healthy dose of “vitamin sea” is all that is necessary to get me going again. I am privileged to share this passion with my brother and our parents. For as long I can remember we have been vacationing by the ocean and being spoiled by its bounty. I believe many fellow anglers can relate to this and it is with this in mind that we intend to share our experiences with you. My favorite form of angling is to target kob on artificial lures, be it with buck-tails in the surf or soft plastics in the river or estuaries. I spend many hours of my free time casting away waiting for that elusive KNOCK…

I’m from a small town in the Eastern Cape called Cradock, where i grew up on the farm against the beautiful banks of the Fish River. I’ve been fishing for as long as I can remember and my favorite fishing destinations are Boknes, The Breede River and anywhere in the Transkei. My favorite fish to target is without a doubt Garrick on artificial lures and got the nickname from always being the guy who lands the biggest or only Garrick of the trip. My best catch is without a doubt landing a 82 cm (6.7 kg) Garrick on popper using a 7 ft rod and 8 lb braid, truly unforgettable. I am a strong believer in fishing for the future and thus practice tag and release as often as I can. So if there is ever an opportunity to cast a line and fight with some big fish on light tackle I’m there. My dream fishing destination will definitely be the Seychelles or anywhere with an abundance of game fish so if you have an extra seat open in the car give me a call.
